Meeting up with Club honorary member Dario Franchitti at Roger Penske’s impressive transporter in the Laguna Seca paddock. A regular attender at the Monterey weekend is Adolfo Orsi, grandson of the Adolfo Orsi who bought Maserati in 1937 from the Maserati brothers.The Maserati factory was moved from its original site in Bologna to a new site in Modena. In 1947, when the ten year contract the Maserati brothers had with Orsi came to an end, the brothers moved back to Bologna and founded OSCA. Former Indianapolis winner and Tyrrell grand prix driver Danny Sullivan still has an interest in motorcycles. Here he guards this immaculate Vincent HRD which forms part of his own personal collection. He even has his own registration number featuring his initials DJS III . Amongst the many social events at Monterey is the party held at Quail Lodge. Derek Bell and his son Justin Bell, who was a very active driver some years ago. join Howden for the party.
