Last week the entrants for the Le Mans Historic race were announced and one of the interesting entries featured the only member of the Grand Prix Drivers Club to run in the event and what is more, a multiple winner of the real Le Mans Race; Derek Bell.

Indeed for Derek, it is a throwback to earlier years as he has been entered by longtime German driver and team owner Willi Kausen. As Derek remarks “…I drove for him in 1975 in the Alfa Romeo T33/12 along with Henri Pescarolo. We won three or four races and the team won the sports World Championship”

The car they will drive is a Porsche 917.“ Willi drove the 917 longtail at Le Mans himself but am not sure which chassis it is that he has restored. The main reason I am doing it is because Norbert Singer is overseeing the project which gives me a lot of confidence in the car running OK. We are testing in Spain in March”
