Aleardo Buzzi, who celebrates his 90th birthday on May 13, has had links with the Grand Prix Drivers Club since its foundation in 1962. He was closely involved with our founder Baron “Toulo” de Graffenried as Aleardo was involved with the marketing of Marlboro from his base in Switzerland.
It was Aleardo who forged the first major Marlboro sponsorship in grand prix racing when Marlboro sponsored BRM. Indeed it could be set that he truly set the ball rolling with commercial sponsorship in Formula 1 the benefits we can see to this very day. The members of the Grand Prix Drivers Club send him our best wishes on his birthday.
